4 Strategies That Will Compel Employers to Interview You

Last week I wrote an article with strategies that will boost your interviews if done correctly. The article touched upon logic and credibility, which are two major and vital components of a resume. This article contains two additional points your resume must target in order to be effective; that is, attract more interviews for you.

3 – Personal Connection

If you want hiring managers and recruiters to select your resume for a 6 second preliminary scan, you must make a strong connection with them before they even take a moment to read your resume. This can be achieved by carefully designing your resume. Your document design, layout, and format should all align with the capacities you are seeking. Similarly, your document should be attractive and visually appealing, so that it stands out to the hiring manager who has probably read dozens of other resumes prior to yours.

Once your resume is in the hands of employers; it must quickly make a personal connection. Employers have problems they need solved, which is why they are seeking a qualified candidate. These problems create stress and anxiety. Additionally, their supervisor has given them the responsibility of finding the one person to incorporate into their organization.

Target the employers emotional side by showing them how you will help solve their problems. If you want to take it a step further, research your top target companies and identify their main problems or how their competitors are rising above them. Create a resume that will communicate how you will solve their problems.

4 – Perfect Timing

By contacting employers at the right time, you increase your chances of getting hired. So, how would you know exactly when to contact a particular employer? – you might ask.

Set up Google Alerts to notify you of certain topics of interest. For instance, if you are seeking a position in information technology or sales and want to know which companies are actually growing or expanding, then you can set up a Google Alert to notify you via email when a current event or news article is posted about growing oil and gas companies.

If a company is growing and expanding, then they will need to recruit more people to fulfill the increasing demand. Wouldn’t that be an opportunistic time to contact a key decision maker in those companies? Send them your value proposition letter along with your new branding resume.

The great aspect of this job search strategies is that you would have less competition, because these jobs would probably not be posted yet, so your competition would not be aware of these opportunities.
